AWOG Celebrates America 250: Celebrating & Benefiting
A 4th of July Celebration of American Community in Greece
America marks its 250th anniversary only once in a lifetime!
In honor of this historic milestone, the American Women’s Organization of Greece is hosting a special Independence Day Celebration inspired by the enduring American values of community, volunteerism, and creating impact. This spirit of civic engagement, service, and hands-on participation has long been at the heart of America, and it is this spirit we are excited to celebrate in Greece.
On Saturday, June 27, we will gather at SOS Children's Villages Vari to host a special celebration for the children, creating a joyful afternoon of fun, activities, and shared experiences. While we celebrate this special occasion, with the children in Vari, we also have an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the life of one remarkable young person.
Meet Kostis!
Twelve-year-old Kostis has been growing up at the SOS Children's Village in Alexandroupolis since 2016, when he arrived with his two siblings at just two years old. Today, he is a sixth-grade student who studies English, plays tennis, and has discovered a passion that is opening doors to his future: robotics.
Through hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent, Kostis recently earned qualification at the Robotics Olympiad in Crete to compete at an international robotics competition in China this July, where he will proudly represent Greece among young innovators from around the world!
To make this opportunity possible, SOS Children's Villages is seeking to raise funds to cover travel expenses for Kostis and his caregiver.
